Major activities include:
T.F.A.- TUSEF
TFA is an active member in the TUSEF Board and
partners with TUSEF and the U.S. Embassy in supporting
Fulbright grantee selection, orientation, communication
and networking, as well as the organizing of knowledge
sharing activities for Fulbright alumni and academics
and officials in related fields:
• TUSEF Board and Grantee Governance: Representation
on the TUSEF Board and participation in the grantee
selection process
• Grantee Orientations: Involvement in annual
preliminary and pre-departure orientations for
new Fulbright grantees
• TUSEF/Alumni Newsletter: Contributing articles
and joint publication of the TUSEF/Alumni newsletter
and booklets
• TUSEF Outreach: Supporting TUSEF in outreach
programs to promote Fulbright at various universities
and educational institutions nation-wide
• Cultural Diversity Initiatives: Participation
in cultural diversity initiatives, such as the
“Leaders Across Cultures Program” for alumni and
selected guests to promote cross-cultural understanding
through the sharing of knowledge and good practices
for effective management in an increasingly multi-cultural
world.
• International Forum Representation: Participation
in international forums (eg. International Fulbright
meetings) and liaising with foreign Fulbright
and other international-exchange organizations
T.F.A. – Fulbright Alumni
With alumni spread across the Kingdom, various
activities are organized to strengthen alumni
collaboration, network, and unity. TFA is also
active in recognizing distinguished alumni, who
maintain a close relationship with the association.
• Annual Meetings and Distinguished Speakers:
Organizing the annual T.F.A. meetings to report
on alumni activities and provide a forum for members
to meet, inviting famous alumni and renowned guest
speakers (eg. Dr Kasem Watanachai, a privy councillor
and former education minister and Dr. Virabongsa
Ramangkura, former Deputy Prime Minister and Finance
Minister) for a lunch talk at the annual event.
• Regional Collaboration Meetings: Initiating
meetings in key regions to develop and support
regional Fulbright chapters in their local activities,
strengthening collaboration amongst the various
chapters, and providing a forum for alumni in
the area to meet. Meetings have been held in Chiang
Mai, Khon Kaen, and Songkhla.
• Educational Tours: Arranging tours to strengthen
alumni relations and raise funds for future alumni
activities. The most recent tour included a visit
to the Bank of Thailand museum at Bangkhunprom
Palace and a cruise along the Chaophraya river.
• Reconizing Distinguished Alumni: Recognizing
and congratulating Alumni upon promotion to esteemed
positions in society
T.F.A. - Community
Activities to facilitate Fulbrighters’ meaningful
contributions to the society e.g. community services,
charity, and knowledge exchanges. T.F.A. has placed
an emphasis on supporting educational opportunities
in the community, with the ideal that education
is the key to a bright and prosperous future for
not only the recipient but also their families
and community at large. Key activities of the
T.F.A. in this area include:
• Leading International Fulbright Efforts for
Disaster Relief: Setting up a mobile library for
selected schools in Tsunami-hit areas in Ranong,
Krabi, and Phang Nga areas with financial support
from the Korean Fulbright Association. In addition,
alumni provided training to the schools’ teachers
on how to maximize the benefit students receive
from using these libraries.
• Contribution to the Commemoration of National
Historic Events: Planting trees in Petchburi province
as part of a government campaign to replenish
national forests during the King’s 60th anniversary
celebrations of His Majesty’s accession to the
throne.
• Charitable Donations on Education: Setting
up long-distance-education satellites for select
Border Police Schools as well as donating books,
stationery, clothing and food with the aim of
bringing global knowledge to the local community
and supporting educational opportunities in lesser
developed areas of the country.
• Knowledge Sharing: In addition to the regular
distinguished guest speakers invited to speak
to alumni and the upcoming inaugural Fulbright
Seminar, Fulbright alumni have contributed in
knowledge sharing via radio broadcast, under the
auspisces of the Government Public Relations department.
Topics on science and technology. Guest speakers
are drawn from topic experts, many of whom are
Fulbright alumni discussing learnings from their
thesis research.
