  General Information / Provisions:
To continue its mission of promoting mutual understanding between the people of the United States and Thailand through educational exchange which has been successfully implemented throughout the past five decades, the Thailand-United States Educational Foundation (Fulbright) announces its annual competition for "FULBRIGHT SCHOLARSHIPS" to qualified Thai individuals for study towards the master’s degree in the United States.

Grants are normally for one academic year. Grantees who require more than one year to complete the master's degree are expected to find support from other sources for their study program in the United States beyond the initial year. Renewal of the grants will be considered on a case by case basis.

Grants are intended to cover costs of tuition and fees, books and educational supplies, maintenance allowance, insurance coverage and round-trip international travel expenses from Thailand to the United States. Some of the grants may be combined with tuition waivers or other financial aid from appropriate institutions.

Awards will be offered in a broad variety of fields with the exception of medicine, public health, nursing and allied subjects.

 
Fulbright policy states that "Students already in the United States are normally ineligible to apply." Furthermore, grantees may not commence their studies in the U.S. before grant year starts.
 
ELIGIBILITY
  An applicant must :
1. be a Thai citizen in good health*;
2. have completed all requirements for a bachelor’s degree from a university in Thailand at the time of interview (Applicants with working experience are encouraged to apply.);
3. have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or equivalent on transcript of academic performance;
4. have a paper-based TOEFL score of 550 or above (or at least 213 from a computer-based TOEFL test), taken within 2 years from the date of application.**
5. be in Thailand for the interview.

* Individuals holding U.S. immigrant visas or permanent U.S. resident cards (green cards), or dual (Thai and U.S.) citizenship are not eligible for Fulbright scholarships to Thai citizens.

To continue its mission of promoting mutual understanding between the people of the United States and Thailand through educational exchange, the Thailand-U.S. Educational Foundation in cooperation with the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and the Institute of International Education (IIE), is pleased to announce an International Fulbright Science and Technology Award for qualified Thai citizens for study toward Ph.D. in the U.S.
The objective of this award is to encourage the world’s outstanding students in the field of science, technology and engineering to pursue their advanced studies in the U.S. which has the most attractive destination for serious scientific and technological research and study which not only welcomes top-notch talent, we encourage future leaders to shape their careers through U.S. study.
For the academic year 2010, up to 40 awards will be competed worldwide for candidates who demonstrate unique aptitude and innovation in the field of Aeronautics and Astronomics/Aeronautical Engineering, Astronomy/Planetary Sciences, Biology, Biomedical Engineering Chemistry, Computer Sciences/Engineering, Energy, Engineering (electrical, chemical, civil, mechanical, ocean, and petroleum), Environmental Science/Engineering, Geology/Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Information Sciences(engineering focus only), Materials Science/Engineering, Mathematics, Neuroscience/Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Oceanography, Public Health (theoretical research focus only), Physics and Agriculture (theoretical and research-based in Entomology, Plant Biology, Plant Pathology, Soil Science).
Up to two applications of nominated candidates from Thailand will be proposed to the Institute of International Education, U.S.A. for final review and selection. Winners will be placed at leading U.S. institutions such as Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stanford University.
Grantees will receive tuition, a monthly stipend for up to 36 months, health and accident coverage, a book and equipment allowance, professional conference allowance, travel support, and specially tailored enrichment activities. After three years, U.S. universities wlll be expected to cover the remaining expenses toward completion of a Ph.D.
 
ELIGIBILITY
  An applicant must:
1) be a Thai citizen in good health (Individuals holding U.S. immigrant visas or permanent U.S. resident cards (green cards), or dual (Thai and U.S.) citizenships are not eligible for Fulbright scholarships);
2) have completed master’s degree before August 1, 2010 and have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or equivalent on academic transcripts both undergraduate and graduate study;
3) have an official and valid TOEFL score (iBT score of at least 92, or computer-based TOEFL score of at least 237, or paper-based TOEFL score of 580 or higher);

4) have an eligible General GRE score report with a quantitative score of at least 700
(GRE score report should be sent to IIE by August 17, 2009);

5) be in Thailand for the interview;
6) plan to commence their studies in the U.S. in the academic year 2010, and that” Students already in the United States are normally ineligible to apply.”
  APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1) An application form can be downloaded from www.fulbrightthai.org 
2) The application package must be accompanied by:
a) The completed 5-page application form and 3 photocopies of the original application;
b) 4 photocopies of university transcript(s) both undergraduate and graduate level for all years of academic study;
c) 4 photocopies of official and valid TOEFL and General GRE score report;
d) 3 letters of recommendation in sealed envelopes
(the Fulbright recommendation from A , B, and C are strictly used)
e) 4 photocopies of resume
3) The completed application and supporting documents can be sent by mail (see address above) or by hand delivered to the Foundation during office hours.
