  General Information / Provisions:
In cooperation with the Thailand Research Fund (TRF), Thailand – U.S. Education (Fulbright), with its mission to promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and Thailand through educational exchange, announces the Fulbright-Thailand Research Fund Junior Research Scholarship Program to Thai qualified University staff member to gain six months of research experience in the U.S as a part of their doctoral dissertation requirements. This scholarship is aimed to help solve the severe shortage of highly qualified human resource and to increase Ph.D. graduates in Thailand and to build professional growth through contacts with the U.s. professors and scholars.

Up to six grants are available annually and intended to cover round-trip international travel expenses from Thailand to the United States, books and educational supplies, monthly stipend for 6 months, insurance coverage and excess baggage allowance. The Foundation will assist grantees in placement in appropriate programs and universities in the U.S., and in obtaining financial aid from U.S. universities.

   
  ELIGIBILITY
  An applicant must :
1) be a Thai citizen in good health*
2) Be a university staff member at a tertiary level institution who is undertaking graduate work at the Ph.D. level in a university;
3) Have completed two years of coursework towards the degree;
4) Be recommended by his/ her employer for consideration;
5) Demonstrate strong academic performance at the graduate level;
6) Have the concurrence of the University Ph.D. program in which he/she is enrolled ;
7) Have a paper-based TOEFL score of 525 or above** ( or at least 195 from a computer-based TOEFL test ); and
8) Obtain written confirmation from a U.S. professor/scientist at the host institution whom his/her research will be supervised.


* Individuals holding U.S. immigrant visas or permanent U.S. resident cards (green cards), or dual (Thai and U.S.) citizenships are not eligible.
