TOEFL iBT

The TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language – Internet-Based) test measures your ability to use and understand English at the university level. It evaluates how well you combine your reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills to perform academic tasks. This test is recommended for individuals planning to study at a higher education institution in English-speaking countries.

TOEFL ITP

The TOEFL ITP (TOEFL Institutional Testing Program) assess test takers’ English proficiency level in three different skills — reading comprehension, listening comprehension, and structure and written expression. The TOEFL ITP in Thailand, Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar, as well as TOEFL TPO (TOEFL Practice Online) are administered by IIE Southeast Asia.

IELTS

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as a language of communication. It is a pen and paper test with a face-to-face oral exam, which is different from TOEFL’s computer-based oral exam. Like the TOEFL, the IELTS covers the four basic language skills (listening, reading, speaking, and writing). In Thailand, the IELTS is administered by the British Council and IDP Education.

CU-TEP

The Chulalongkorn University Test of English Proficiency (CU-TEP) is measures English proficiency in listening, reading, and writing skills for academic purposes in both undergraduate and graduate studies.

GRE

The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) is a standardized test that is an admissions requirement for most Graduate Schools in the United States. The GRE aims to measure verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, analytical writing, and critical thinking skills that have been acquired over a long period of learning. The content of the GRE consists of certain specific algebra, geometry, arithmetic, and vocabulary. Almost all students pursing a graduate degree need to take this test.

GMAT

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a computer adaptive test intended to assess certain analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English for use in admission to a graduate management program, such as an MBA.

Summary of Fulbright Thailand Programs and Tests

** Scores are not required at the time of application. However, the individuals who are selected as finalists will need to take these tests, using test vouchers provided by Fulbright Thailand.
